I hold a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Arizona State University and am Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northern Arizona University in 2011, and a Bachelor of Art in Psychology from University of Arizona in 2000. I began my path in behavioral health 14 years ago as a case manager for General Mental Health, Serious Mental Illness, and Court-Ordered Treatment clients at an outpatient behavioral health clinic in Tucson, AZ; it was there that I met the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners that inspired me to my current profession. I worked as a Behavioral Health Technician while completing pre-requisites for nursing school, and then as an ANCC Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Registered Nurse for several years before starting Nurse Practitioner school.

I grew up in a military family, born in England and raised in Germany until age 17 when I moved to Tucson, AZ. I spent 15 years living in Tucson, moved to Flagstaff for nursing school, and have loved living in the mountains ever since. My calling is to serve the mental health needs of my community, and I am passionately involved in suicide prevention on both a local and national level. I have served on the board of the Flagstaff chapter of National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the state chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), and have been co-chair for multiple community events designed to raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention and education, such as the annual AFSP Out of the Darkness Walk.

As an employee of Phoenix Mental Health and Wellness, I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your path to an improved quality of life.

Having provided healthcare services in the Phoenix area for over a decade, my passion is to help my clients live a more purposeful life through excellent mental health services. While working at Arizona State University as a Community Health Nurse, I pursued and completed my doctoral degree with my focus on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). My studies gave me the knowledge to be able to provide evidence based treatment modalities to go along with my heart for providing compassionate care.

I have 7 years experience as a PMHNP, and I thoroughly enjoy a team approach with my clients, who I want to be active participants in their treatment to get better. I believe treatment plans should be unique to each individual and empower clients to reach their full potential. In a typical appointment with me, we will combine the art and science of psychiatry to fine tune your psychiatric medication regimen and discuss other therapeutic modalities that could be beneficial in helping you reach your desired goals and outcomes.

It’s an honor to join the team at Phoenix Mental Health & Wellness, who are committed to helping clients live their best life possible.

I hope to inspire those I treat to engage in continual lifelong growth and learning.

I am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, licensed in the state of Arizona. I received my Post-Graduate Certificate in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. I received my Master of Science in Nursing: Nursing Leadership in Healthcare Organizations, Master of Business Administration, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Having been in healthcare for over 14 years, I have worked in numerous practice areas including Emergency Department, Telemetry/Cardiology, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit/Perioperative, Nursing Leadership and Management, and as a Mental Health RN Patient Care Coordinator.

As early as nursing school, it was obvious to me that increased access to mental health services was necessary. This realization was further reinforced in every practice area from the Emergency Department to Nursing Leadership. My goal is to provide the best, evidence-based, and patient-centered care through partnerships with patients, providers, and other disciplines. Furthermore, I hope to promote optimal mental health through a lifestyle and wellness approach to treatment including pharmacotherapeutic and non-pharmacotherapeutic interventions.

Finally, I hope to help eliminate the stigmas associated with mental health concerns and seeking treatment through a collaborative and educational approach with patients and families. I firmly believe that our mental health impacts all other aspects of our health and lives; therefore, to live our best lives and achieve our full potentials, we must first address our mental health needs.
